Welcome to the PlayPrep Beta 👋
PlayPrep is an activity planner built for parents, teachers, and homeschoolers. Think of it as a recipe manager for kids' activities — save crafts, field trips, and learning activities, track your supplies, and plan your week all in one place.
This is an early beta. Most core features are working, and we want to know what feels great, what's confusing, and what's missing. There are no wrong answers — your honest reaction is exactly what we need.
📦 Beta testing runs through end of April, with a full App Store launch planned for May. Please note that data added during the beta is stored locally and will not carry over — see the notice below for details.
How long will testing take? As little as 15 minutes to try the basics, or as long as a week if you want to really put it through its paces. Both are helpful.

📦 Important: About your beta data
All data you add during the beta (activities, supplies, places, plans) is stored locally on your device only. It will not carry over to the full launch version of PlayPrep.
We are actively working on cloud backup and sync, which will be available at full launch in May. Once that's in place, your data will be saved to your account and carry over between devices and app updates.
For now, we recommend using the beta to explore features and give feedback rather than building out your full activity library. Thank you for understanding — your testing is helping us build something great! 🙏
Getting started
First steps
🚀 Onboarding
When you first open the app, you'll go through a short onboarding flow that asks about the ages of your kids and your interests. This helps PlayPrep suggest relevant activities to get you started.
- Does onboarding feel smooth and quick?
- Are the age group and interest options relevant to you?
- After onboarding, does the home screen feel personalized and useful?
Core features to test
What to try
📚 PlayPrep Library & My Library
Browse 50+ curated activities in the PlayPrep Library (tap Discover → PlayPrep Library). Add activities you like to your personal library to save, edit, and customize them.
- Browse the library — do the activities feel age-appropriate and useful?
- Try filtering by age group, category, environment, and prep time
- Add 2–3 activities to your library using the + button
- Open an activity you saved — tap "Edit" and change the title, age group, or add a supply
- Add a cover photo to one of your activities
- Does the activity card in your library update to show your changes?
➕ Add Your Own Activity
Tap the center + button → Add Activity to create your own activity from scratch. You can enter it manually or (on Pro) import from a URL.
- Create a simple activity manually — add a title, category, age group, and 2–3 steps
- Add supplies to the activity
- Add a cover photo
- Save it — does it appear correctly in your library?
- Go back and edit it — do your changes save?
🧺 Supply Closet & Shopping List
The Supply Closet tracks craft supplies you have at home. PlayPrep uses it to tell you which activities you can do right now.
- Add 5–10 supplies to your closet (tap the Supplies tab → + Add Supply)
- Go back to the Library tab — does it show "Ready now" activities that match your supplies?
- From an activity, tap the supply toggle to see which supplies you have or need
- Add missing supplies to your shopping list
- Open the shopping list (Plan tab → Shopping List) — are items listed correctly?
- Check off items in the shopping list — does the "Add to Closet" option work?
▶️ Play Mode
When you're ready to do an activity, tap "Play Mode" on the activity detail screen for step-by-step guidance.
- Open any activity and tap Play Mode
- Step through all the instructions — are they easy to follow?
- Does the supply list appear at the right step?
- Try logging the activity at the end — does it ask about supply usage?
📅 Planning
The Plan tab lets you schedule activities for specific days and see your upcoming week.
- Add an activity to today's date in the Plan tab
- Go to the Home screen — does it appear in the "On Your Plan" section?
- Add something for tomorrow too
- Try the shopping list view in the Plan tab
🗂️ Collections
Collections let you group activities by theme, season, skill, or any other way that makes sense to you.
- Create a new collection (tap + → Add Collection)
- Add 3–4 activities to it
- Check the smart collections in the Collections tab — do they populate with relevant activities?
- Try saving a smart collection to your library
🗺️ Places
Save museums, parks, nature centers, and anywhere else you love to take kids.
- Add a place (tap + → Add Place)
- Mark its status: want to visit, visited, or favorite
- Add some details: hours, website, age range
- Does the place card look right in your library?
